Key Points from USS SAIPAN Demonstration Rejuvenation to original color was achieved in most locations and verified by quantitative color measurement equipment. (Improvement to 80% Original Color)

Removal of soluble salts, reducing contamination by more than 2 ½ times the initial average. Example, initial measurement at 1340 µs/cm was reduced to 460 µs/cm. This will inhibit the potential for corrosion in damaged areas. (Improvement 2.5 X)

Removal of ground in hydrocarbons, grease, oil and other contaminates was witnessed. (Improvement, Removal of grease)

Improved slip resistance was measured and was within MIL-PRF-24667B requirements for a new deck (.89 to .99 passing deck) (Improvement of 2 X)

Use of high pressure heated water without the use of detergent provided excellent cleaning power without the need for chemical or soap which would remain on the deck after ships force cleaned the area. Left over cleaning solutions will contribute to the loss of slip resistance and aide in the contamination of the deck over time.

Time to clean the deck surface is measured in minutes rather than hours leaving only a damp deck with sporadic pools of water behind. 500 square feet of deck can be cleaned in under 6 minutes.

Loss of Non Skid material was minimal. No substantial degradation of the deck coating was evident.

Demonstration with main equipment pierside and cleaning unit on deck
Main cleaning unit comprised of pumps water heater, filters and water recycling unit were located pierside with hoses aboard ship providing supply water and vacuum to cleaning equipment on deck

Soap spot cleaning of hydrocarbon stained areas
Several pre-treat or spot cleaning soaps were demonstrating to determine effectiveness of hydrocarbon removal. All products are available and approved for use under NSTM 634

ANZIO has requested post deployment non-skid cleaning equipment demonstration aboard ship, flight deck, hanger bay and passages

* The pink non-skid discoloration is directly related to a pigmentation exchange within the product itself. As the manufactures have tried to remove the carbon black they must add various levels of other pigments to get back to the dark gray/black color required. Theses replacement pigment are the cause of the transition to pink when exposed to UV.
